Laser Tissue Blood Oxygenation Monitor OMEGAMONITOR BOM-L1TRW & BOM-L1TRSF

The laser tissue blood oxygenation monitor, OMEGAMONITOR, is a useful instrument for measuring tissue blood volume and the oxygenation in such as muscles continuously and non-invasively.

There are two kind of instrument in OMEGAMONITOR series. One is using near infrared lasers, BOM-L1TRW, and the other is using red lasers, Bom-L1TRSF. The BOM-L1TRWis suitable for measuring large volume of tissue like human muscles and cerebral hemodynamics during surgical operation. The BOM-L1TRSFis suitable for measuring human skin, and brain and internal organs of small animals. These instruments are different from the pulse oximeter, and measure whole blood in the detected volume of tissue. They show the volume of Oxy-Hb and Deoxy-Hb, and the oxygenation of whole blood, then the information of the oxygen consumption can be obtained.

OMEGAMONITORsusethree laser diodes. The wavelengths of the lasers are near each other, and the powers are stable by our laser stability system. The laser lights are irradiated on tissue through the one optical fiber in the probe. There is the other optical fiber in the probe for monitoring the laser light intensities, and it is used to compensate the laser power change and the difference between the three laser powers for the calculation of the measurement.

OMEGAMONITORshave two detectors for measuring shallower part and deeper part simultaneously. The two information of hemodynamics can be used to eliminate the information of shallow part, mostly skin when human muscle is measured,from the deeper part.  The measurement depth is proportional to the distance between the incidence and receiving, and the maximum measurement depth is almost same as the distance.

Measurement example

This model is suitable for measuring human muscle or brain because the measurement volume is large. The two-detection system measures shallow part and deeper part from the surface simultaneously. The distance between the incidence and receiving (detection) points is variable, and the measurement depth is proportional to the distance. The analog outputs of the detector1, detecrtor 2 and detector2-1 are on the rear panel. The each detection outputs 4 factors, Oxy-Hb, Deoxy-Hb and Total-Hb simultaneously.
